The Only Airport Butterfly Garden in the World

Hello from Singapore!

After an intensely long wait to catch my first flight of the day, followed by a mad rush to make it to my second flight, I was thrilled to arrive in the Singapore international airport.

As I was examining the information board to determine where to go to catch my sky train to terminal 1, I was approached by a helpful staff member who wanted to know how long I had between flights. "Seven hours," I told him. Oh! Well, he proceeded to give me suggestions on how to make the most of that time--there is a sunflower garden, cactus garden, orchid garden (complete with the largest koi fish I have ever seen), and a butterfly garden--the only one in the world that's located in an airport, apparently. There's also free internet access, a free mini-theater showing movies all day long, and a swimming pool (also the only airport one in the world, he tells me). Plus an abundance of shops & cafes, and places for henna tattoos & hair reflexology treatments. If I get bored here, it'll be my own fault. :)

From here, I plan to head over to PNG, arriving there tomorrow a.m.
Then a whole new adventure begins!
