Safely Home

After taking the scenic route out of the tribe (our plane landed in two other villages and a mission base, where I got to visit a friend), I spent another couple days near Goroka before starting the homeward journey.

I made all my connections easily, and had nothing confiscated along the way, even though some of my souveniers were made of wood and I passed through Australia.

And I lived through Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 twice. After a full Friday & night of travel, I woke the next morning on the plane & heard the flight attendant announce the local weather & time of our next destination, "...and today is Friday," she added. Thus began another entire day & night which was Friday!

I had a lengthy layover in Honolulu, so hopped on a city bus to the beach & spent some time there. I also toured a war museum and tried to visit the aquarium, but it was closed. Then I bussed back to the aiport & waited for my flight.

That night, I was seized by an upset stomach, which put a damper on the rest of my travels. But I made it through Denver with time to spare, and was one of eight passengers on my plane to Regina. I was met there by two friends & a very excited dog, and escorted home.

I slept most of the rest of the day away, even though I tried to stay awake 'til a decent bedtime hour. When I did go to bed, I had not problem sleeping the night away, and now feel almost good as new.

It was a great trip--I saw lots, heard lots, experienced lots, and met lots of people, and enjoyed my time. Now I have plenty to process & ponder. And I am glad to be home! :)
