Several months ago, the village leader came to church for the
first time. He hasn’t returned since, but his attendance seems to have opened
the way for his younger brother, Kevin,* to come. Since then, Kevin has been very
faithful in his attendance, and increasingly involved in church life. He is
eager to study God’s Word, and has been meeting regularly with one of my co-workers
for that purpose.
Several weeks ago, Kevin mentioned that he used to make fun of
people who went to church. Now, he identifies himself as a believer and is
hoping to be baptized.
That got me thinking...what would change the mind of a person
who considers Christianity foolish or silly? What would shift in his mindset
that would attract such a person to go to church? And then, when he goes to
church, what would make him believe the Gospel and put his trust in Christ?
Oh, how amazing and mysterious is God’s work in the human
heart! All we can do is marvel.
*not his real name.
